I’m Natasha D’Amours (she/they), a writer, artist, and library professional. My work is a little bit about telling stories, a little bit about doing something unexpected with a familiar medium, a little bit about having fun – and maybe even sometimes a little bit about libraries.
The works on this itch.io page were created as part of a class on interactive storytelling for the digital humanities. You can find other creative research-creation projects I’ve been involved in elsewhere online, including an immersive 360° video which resituates archival literary audio from the 1960s-1980s in the modern day; a podcast exploring the role of timestamping for literary archives; a radio show about topics and trends in the field of librarianship; and a dynamic 8-channel “audio experience” which was recently exhibited at the University of Alberta’s Sound Studies Institute.
Playing with sound, video, media, and games is my favourite way of engaging with archives and academia – it’s inviting, it’s approachable, and it’s fun, both to create and to experience. While my itch.io pieces focus a little bit more on fun and a little bit less on academia, I think they can be just as valuable.
